Trust has to be earned / What's On the bench

Visit the web page Bam Bam Holsters

Once upon a time I bought one of my first handguns, and would you believe, that brand new gun did not work.  Two trips to the manufacturer before the problem was resolved. I express this because I have met to many people that refer to a gun that they carry for self defense that they have never shot. I have been told, "well, its brand new, I know it will work."

I just got a brand new M&P shield 45, and some one that new about it, asked if I had it on me.  I said, "nope, we still gotta make friends". That is to say, I am not carrying a gun that I have not gotten acquainted with, and it has not earned my trust. Now a few hundred rounds later, that little shield has earned my trust and allowed in the britches. It runs just fine, even ran some of the expensive self defense ammo (most of it is different from cheap ball ammo we shoot and can feed differently).

The gun I mentioned in the first paragraph, never did earn my trust. I have had a few guns that I liked to carry that developed an issue of some sort and I just cant bring myself to carry it again until hundreds of rounds have run without flaw.  I don't think I will ever have to use my gun for self defense, well that's my hope anyways. With all that I have to go through to carry a gun on a regular basis, I am going to make sure I trust the gun that I carry.
