Antiquing

Visit the web page Bam Bam Holsters

Antiquing is completely different form of dying leather. What I use, is actually a gel, that is applied liberally and before it can dry, it is wiped off with a paper towel. It will leave behind accumulations of dye in any marks, such as stamping or any other indentations in the leather.  This results in darker areas.
Notice the differences in the stamped areas

The affect is greatly diminished when I wet form the leather.  A water based dye, dunked in water, can come out different every time.

Below are all deviations of dark brown Antique gel.

This one I actually hand rubbed under water to get the light shade.

What kind of holster do I need

Visit the web page Bam Bam Holsters

The question is asked over and over, "what kind of holster do I need?".  Always by the new concleal carrier of a fire arm and often by the experienced.

Couple of questions to ask yourself.......

  • What size gun am I going to carry?
    • The bigger the gun the more difficult to conceal, and weight is often the discouragement.
  • Am I going to carry Inside the waist band or outside the waist?
    • IWB is for sure the easiest way to conceal, yet OWB is usually the most comfortable.
  • What position on the belt am I going to carry?
    • Most carry on the hip or 3:00 -5:00
    • Appendix or high noon, is another common place
    • Small of the back can be more comfortable than one might think.
    • What works for one does not necessarily work for you. Everyone's body build is different and often physical limitations play into the decision process.
Of course the easiest answer to the above questions (especially if your not sure of the answers) is a holster that can be worn in all the positions.....the OMNI.

They Don't Understand Until They See It

Visit the web page Bam Bam Holsters

I have described the OMNI holster to so many people and they just don't understand it until they see it. Then the say " Oh I see what your saying now, It can literally be worn in any position".  The page on the Web site  explains it, so I repeat that here.

The clip is anchored with a screw and not sewn in place. It can swivel 360 degrees giving the adjustable cant of the gun for carry in any position.  The disadvantage of any single clip holster is less stability than a double clip holster, and the "not sewn in" (though the clip will remain tight) gives a little more movement, but for the added versatility ......cant be beat.

A previous blog describes how it is the best holster a new conceal carrier can buy.  It takes a while to figure out how you are comfortable carrying a fire arm, and with the Omni yo can experience all of them.

So often it takes seeing it to understand what I ma getting
